Basic Acting Class:

A great introductory class for younger students who have an interest in being on stage and don't know where to start! In this class we will learn basic techniques of performance presentation. This includes how to face an audience, how to correctly speak when on stage, developing character voices and movement, and knowledge of basic theatre terms. Using scene work, we will focus on how performers must work together in order to produce a masterpiece. Students will gain basic theatre knowledge of preparation, terminology, stage presence, and acting experience to give them the confidence they need to pursue future performance opportunities.

Advanced Acting Class:

For students who have prior performance experience but are looking to refine their performance style. In this class, we will explore basic principles of Stanislavski and Meisner acting techniques to help advance character development and improve theatre resumes. Audition preparation is the main focus of this course, aiming to help prepare older students for high school and college level auditions. Students will leave with a stronger grasp on acting techniques to apply to future characters, a polished theatre resume, and 2 contrasting monologues prepared to use for auditions.

Instructor Bio:

Mallory Sellers is a local director and performer who received her BA in Theatre and Music from Bethel University. She has directed at the Krider Performing Arts Center for the past 3 years and has worked with actors from ages 5 to 65 in the Paris and Mckenzie areas. Her credits include The Ryman Auditorium, The Country Music Hall of Fame, and was invited to perform with the cast of Mary Poppins on Broadway in 2012. Her most notable roles include Annie Sullivan from "The Miracle Worker," Jean-Louise Finch from "To Kill a Mockingbird," and Eva Peron from "Evita."Popular Directing credits in the community include "Shrek The Musical, Jr", "Legally Blonde, Jr," and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do: A Neil Sedaka Musical."
