June nineteenth was, literally, a red-letter day for Lee Academy for the Arts with the arrival of some new "residents" of the Academy. The twelve-foot Eiffel Tower and PARIS letters in these photographs were a gift from the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville to the City of Paris. City Manager Carl Holder arranged for the pickup and transport of the Center's gift. |

Pictured on the left and in the photos below are Ricky Nance, Dan Knowles, and two unidentified City employees as they unload the tower. In the top photo, Rachel Raab, executive director of the Paris-Henry County Heritage Center, stands with the letters. The Heritage Center's Annual Membership Dinner in September is one of many local events where they may be on display. (The Heritage Center is on the web at www.phchc.com.) The historic Robert E. Lee School building will be home to both the letters and the tower where they await their Paris debut. Originally designed for the annual Frist Center Gala, these conversation pieces were created to complement the Center's exhibition at that time, Matisse, Picasso and the School of Paris: Masterpieces from the Baltimore Museum of Art. You can visit the Frist Center online at www.fristcenter.org. |
